National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed party leaders in Lagos to ensure they win in all the polling units across the 20 Local Government Areas of the state, in Saturday’s governorship and House of Assemby elections.

Speaking at the party’s secretariat in Ikeja, yesterday, during a stakeholders’ meeting, Tinubu said despite the shortcomings the party had during the presidential and National Assembly elections, APC will defeat the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Tinubu also complained about the poor performance of 15, out of the 20 local governments at the last presidential and National Assembly elections in Lagos.

He said there is need for the party leadership in those affected local governments to work with the agents  to perform better.

Tinubu said: “It was only five local governments that preformed excellently in the last elections. The local governments were Mushin, Agege, Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland and Lagos Island.

“We thank them for delivering their local governments without stress. Those that were unable to perform up to expectations need to put more efforts towards Saturday’s elections.

“It is shameful that we couldn’t get up to 50 percent of the voters in the state during the presidential and National Assembly elections. Alimosho was disappointing, Oshodi was a struggle, Kosofe and Somolu didn’t do well.

“Go and deliver on Saturday. Go to your wards and see your leadership at the local government and tell them what roles you can do to bring out people to cast their votes. Act like a leader. We want you to work for the party and enjoy the benefits. We are not dolling out cash. “If you lose your polling unit, you are on your own. If you lose your constituency, don’t come home, it means you can’t deliver.

“On Saturday, all I want to hear is that we won in the 40 constituencies. I want you all to stay on queue till you cast your votes.

“We don’t want to fight; we want to win elections. We would defeat our opponents at the poll without violence. When you are confident of winning elections, there is no need to fight anybody; even if they provoke you.

“When they provoke you don’t react. Youths should make sure they help the elderly and people to come out and vote on Saturday.

“Don’t go out and be playing football on election day. Go out and cast your votes. Football cannot provide basic amenities for you; it is only your votes that can do that. So, go out and vote on Saturday.”
