Lagos Country Club celebrates new year, rewards outstanding members

Members of the Lagos Country Club, recently celebrated its 2024 new year party, with King Sunny Ade and his African Beats entertaining them, even as some outstanding members received rewards for their dedication and hardwork.
The music icon, who has been a constant feature in the Club’s annual party for several decades, again thrilled members at this year’s event which took place at the club’s premises.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the patron of the Cub, was represented by his Special Adviser on Political and Civil Engagements, Dr. Afolabi Tajudeen.
Other dignitaries in attendance were His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Adegorunshe V, Ayangburen Ikorodu kingdom, who was the Royal Father of the Day, captains of industries, royal fathers, James Faleke, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Brig-Gen Adegoke Adetuyi, Commander 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, and Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, OON, Managing Director/Chief Executive, Rainoil Group of companies.
It was a fun-filled event as members, guests and friends partied all through the night, even as sumptuous food and exotic drinks were served freely.
The party, which is the foremost family club’s signature event, was introduced about three decades ago to herald the new year and enable members to bond in an atmosphere of love and fun.
Welcoming members to the great event, the President, Seyi Adewunmi said the night would be an unforgettable night of celebration, camaraderie, and exceptional entertainment.
He appreciated all the dignitaries for their presence and strong community ties.
He said the night marked not just the beginning of a new year, but also the continuation of a cherished tradition that has been the heartbeat of the Club for over three decades.
“As you are aware, Lagos Country Club is a private, family club devoted to the social well-being of its members. This event symbolises more than just a gathering; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of community, the joy of togetherness, and the strength of our bonds as members of this prestigious club.
“And what’s a celebration without music to stir our souls? We are excited to have the legendary King Sunny Ade and his African Beats electrify our stage. King Sunny Ade’s music has been a beacon of cultural pride and joy for us,” he noted.
He admonished members to reflect on the previous year and carry forward the spirit of unity and joy into the new year.
“This year is a landmark year for us. It is the 75th year of the existence of our Club. We plan to celebrate the historic milestone with exciting and meaningful events. At the appropriate time, we will be inviting our well-wishers, and indeed, the public to join us in the celebration of the illustrious journey of the foremost family club in West Africa.
Adewunmi further said the leadership of the Club, and members of the management council, in collaboration with the members of the Board of Trustees would continue to do their best to place the club on the pedestal befitting of its status.
