Lafarge empowers 40 women

As part of its commitment to gender equality and women empowerment in the construction Industry, Lafarge Africa Plc has  graduated 40 women from its commitment female tilers & block making training programme in Lagos.

According to the company, the initiative is part of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts at equipping women from underserved communities with the necessary skills to thrive in the construction Industry.

The company explained in a statement that the objective of the Programme was to break down gender barriers in an industry that has traditionally been dominated by men.

Over the period of four weeks, participants were given hands-on training in tiling and block making,using the company’s flagship products,Supafix and Supaset.

Congratulating the graduates during their graduation ceremony recently in Lagos, Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, the company  CEO, said  the event was not merely an end but a gateway to a world of opportunities.

On the broadr impact of the Programme, Lafarge’s Director of Communication , Pubic Affair & Sustainable Development, Viola Graham-Douglas, said:
