Prominent philanthropist and community leader, Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik, popularly known as Kefiano, has disclosed his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Plateau State on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made his position known while addressing supporters in his local government area, Kanke, a move to test public support ahead of a formal declaration.
Although he stressed that the event did not amount to an official declaration, he said the turnout underscored growing grassroots backing for his aspiration across the state.
“I am even surprised at the mammoth turnout, despite the fact that this is not an official declaration yet,” he said. “I am very sure that my people and the good people of Plateau State want me, and I am fully prepared to make them proud.”

He is also known for adopting and raising children, providing them with access to education and improved living conditions, a gesture that has further strengthened his public image as a compassionate leader.
Supporters at the event described him as a leader whose approach is rooted in service, empathy and inclusiveness.
“Plateau needs a leader who understands the pains of the people and is willing to act,” one supporter said. “Chief Ropshik has shown over the years that he is not just a politician but a servant-leader.”
