Kebbi signs N2.9bn contract for rehabilitation of central motor park

The Kebbi State government has signed a N2.9bn contract with Amijapp Nigeria Limited for the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and modernisation of the 25-year-old Birnin Kebbi Central Motor Park.

The commissioner for works and transport, Abdullahi Umar Faruk, confirmed this during a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, saying, “the rehabilitation and modernisation of Kebbi State Central Motor Park project is hereby awarded to the lowest bidder Amijapp Nigeria limited at the cost of N2,990,351,128.23 billion.

“His excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris has  irected that the 25-year-old Kebbi State Central Motor Park, which was initiated in1996 and commissioned in 1998 but allowed to deteriorate due to negligence and lack of maintenance by successive administrations in the state.”

He explained that Kebbi State Central Motor Park would become a comfortable, functional and aesthetic edifice for modern public transport through the provision of lock-up shops, a gallery, a modern administrative block, adequate water supply, restaurants, garbage and disposal bins, available sit-out for commuters updated and readable electric information board, among others.

The Commissioner further said that the motor park would be convenient centre for both local and international travelers and freight collation that come from all over the country and the neighbouring countries of Niger and Benin republics.

 He added that the redesigned, constricted and modernized to be a befitting gateway park to serve it’s role as image maker for the state.
