The Kebbi State Government has promised to support the families of the 10 police officers and others killed by terrorists in an ambush along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The state governor, Dr Nasir Idris, stated this during a visit by a team sent to Kebbi by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, led by Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Umar Dada, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Idris, who commiserated with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) over the death of the officers while on duty, explained that they were in the area to support sister security agencies in tackling terrorists and other criminal elements.
According to him, “I want to condole with the IGP and the NPF over the sudden death of these officers. It is our tradition in Kebbi to assist the families of fallen officers who died in the line of duty.

“Kebbi Government will come to the aid of the families of those officers who died,” he said.
Earlier, the IGP, represented by DIG Umar Dada, conveyed the IGP’s condolences to Governor Idris, the people of Kebbi State and the families of the fallen officers, and reassured them that the NPF would arrest the perpetrators.
“Please, be rest assured we are not going to relent in our efforts. All the attackers will be arrested and brought to book,” he said.
The IGP appreciated the Kebbi State Government for its support for the police in the state and disclosed that a police squadron would soon be established in the state.
