Kebbi State government has injected a proposal in the 2025 budget to build a new indoor stadium with 6,000 capacity.
Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Nura Figilla disclosed this during the opening ceremony of 2025 Unity Challenge Cup organised by a philanthropists, Abdullahi Khairullahi Jega.
The tournament is being sponsor by the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Idris.
While speaking on the sports facilities in the state,Commissioner said: “If you look the FIFA Mini Stadium at Goru, it is one of the best in the Northwest of Nigeria.We have make a profiling on the new stadium in which it is going to accommodate not less than 5,000 to 6,000 participants. And His Excellency has put in the 2025 budget. It is going to be an indoor stadium.
“We have that in the plan in the 2025 budget. Definitely,it is going to be materialize and available for us,” he said.
Figilla explained that the purpose of organising the tournament was to unite the youths across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state and to showcase their skills and talents.
The organiser of the tournament, Alhaji Abdullahi Khairullahi Jega explained that he initiated the tournament to encourage the youths across the state and unite them through the football, which is global game.
