Kebbi govt pays N629m compensation for Tsamiya Inland Dry Port, Argungu old bypass road dualisation

The Kebbi State government has paid N629.455 million as compensation to persons whose farmlands and properties have been acquired for the construction of the Tsamiya Inland Dry Port in Shaguna, Bagudo Local Government, as well as on the dualisation of the Argungu old bye-pass road.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Housing, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed, confirmed this  Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “the state government disbursed ₦289.542 million in compensation for over 200 hectares of land and economic trees to acquire land for the Tsamiya Inland Dry Port project in Shaguna, a border town between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

“The money was paid to beneficiaries in Tsamiya on Wednesday, witnessed by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Muhammad Dangi Juli, the Permanent Secretary, officials from the Ministry, the Bagudo Local Government Chairman and  Councillors.

“Also present were representatives of the Gwandu Emirate, the Ministry of Justice, Security Agencies, the Ministry of Finance as well as community leaders.”

Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the smooth implementation of the exercise, attributing its success to the full cooperation of the community.

He also thanked Governor Nasir Idris for making the necessary funds available.

He explained that the Governor was highly interested in the realization of the Tsamiya Inland Dry Port in Shaguna due to its potential to significantly enhance trade and commerce between Kebbi State and the Republic of Benin, facilitating easier movement of goods and boosting the local economy.

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that the state government has also paid ₦339.913 million in compensation for structures affected by the 6.5 dualisation of the Argungu Old Bye-Pass Road, flagged off by  Governor Nasir Idris on Tuesday.

The money was disbursed in Argungu in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Lands and Housing. the Argungu Local Government Chairman, Councillors, representatives of the Argungu Emirate, the Ministry of Justice, Security Agencies, and the Ministry of Finance.

Ahmed commended the state government for the timely release of the funds by Governor Nasir Idris and stressed that it would ensure the prompt completion of these vital projects.
