Kebbi: Gov releases N309.5m for 86 students studying in India, Egypt

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has released N309.5 million for payment of foreign scholarships to 86 indigenes studying in India and Egypt, respectively.

The Commissioner, Ministry for Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga, confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “Governor Nasir Idris, has made payment of foreign scholarship to Kebbi state indigenes studying in India and Egypt to the tune of N228.1 million for 63 students in India and N81.4 million for 23 students in Egypt, thereby giving a total of N309.5 million.”

Tunga said that the remaining 50 foreign students would have their expenses settled within the shortest time.

The commissioner disclosed that the governor had paid the local scholarship to all the state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across the country in February 2024.

He said: “The Ministry for Higher Education remains appreciative of all the praiseworthy efforts of the governor in the higher education sector.

“May Allah continue to guide and give him the strength and wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the state forward,” the commissioner prayed.
