From Olanrewaju Lawal, Birnin Kebbi
The wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Idris, has commissioned the renovated Kauran Gwandu Children’s Home and empowered 12 orphans with economic opportunities.
The empowerment packages for the orphans, who have attained the age of 18, include 10 brand new motorcycles for commercial purposes, two tricycles, and cash donations to start businesses aligned with their acquired skills.
The commissioning also marked the relocation of the orphanage home from its temporary location to its permanent site.
Hajiya Zainab Idris, who commissioned the new home for the orphans in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, urged the beneficiaries of the empowerment tools—especially the orphans who have attained the age of 18—to utilise them effectively.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the Governor’s wife said: “We gathered here today to witness the commissioning and empowering of 12 children who are graduating from the children’s home. These children, just as you all know, have attained the age of 18 and have completed vocational skills acquisition at the centre on different skills.
“These would make them to be self-reliant without depending on anybody for their daily needs. I therefore urge you to use these empowerment tools very well so that you have no reason to rely on anybody again.”
