Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has donated the sum of three million and two big bulls to Corp members deployed to Kebbi State for their youth service.
The Governor made the donation shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 batch ‘A’ stream 2 corp members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area.
The Governor who was represented by the Kebbi State Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena at the occasion, handed over the money and the two big bulls to the corp members to make their stay a memorable one.
He called on the corp members to uphold the goals of the NYSC scheme of national unity, integration and development.
Idris also urged the corp members to pay attention and rededicate themselves in serving the nation diligently.
Idris said that the Land of Equity, Kebbi has been known for its peaceful atmosphere for all categories of people irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences.
“Kebbi State has been known for peace. Your safety here is well assured. Already, various security agencies in the state have been directed to double their efforts towards giving maximum security to Corps members,” he stated.
He affirmed that the state government would also do its best to ensure the general welfare of corp members posted to the state throughout their stay.
“The state government on its part will continue to do everything possible to see to your general welfare and wellbeing,” he said.
He congratulated the corp members for successfully scaling through the rigours of academic pursuit and being found worthy in learning and character which qualified them to be mobilized for National Service.
While commending the founding fathers of the scheme, the governor called on them to imbibe the spirit of hard work and remain faithful to the noble ideals of the founding fathers of the NYSC scheme.
Earlier, the Kebbi NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki, welcomed the Governor and all the corp members to the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 Corps Members deployed to serve in Kebbi State.
She opined that ” This Orientation Course is a combined one with some corp members from Zamfara State dislodged to have their Orientation Camp here in Kebbi State ‘.
According to her, a total of 1,739 Corps members were deployed to Kebbi State, 451 Corps members from Zamfara State and 1,288 were to Kebbi State.
She thanked the governor for his sustained support of the NYSC Governing Board and his concern over the needs of the NYSC in the state.
Chief Judge Kebbi State was represented by Justice Hassan Shehu Kuwa sworn in the Corps members.
Among the important personalities at the occasion include, the State Coordinator for Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulsalam Alhassan.
