- 1,760 corps members sworn in

Kebbi State Governor Dr Nasir Idris has charged corps members posted to the state not to mortgage their future and they should ensure they sustained national unity, integration and development of Nigeria during their service year.
Idris stated this while addressing 1,760 2024 batch A stream 1 corps members of during their swearing in ceremony at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The swearing in ceremony and oath allegiance taken by the corps members was performed by the Chief Justice of Kebbi State,Justice Umar Abubakar who was represented by Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza.
Governor Idris, who was represented by the Chairman Board of NYSC in the state and Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development,Comrade Nura Bala Fingila, congratulated the corps members for the successful completion of their academic pursuits.
“The state is enriched with abundant human and natural resources, rich cultural heritage with agricultural produce, which also promotes a healthy enterprise. My dear corps members, I enjoin you to pay utmost attention to this noble call to serve our great nation and re-dedicate yourselves to achieving the Scheme’s goal of national unity, integration and development.
“You should live peacefully with fellow compatriots despite diverse cultural and socio-ethnic backgrounds, in order to promote the integrity of our nation as one united and indivisible entity. The future of this country lies in your hands, therefore you have a great role to play in shaping our corporate destiny.
“I encourage you not mortgage this unique opportunity that will give room to your rise to greater height and a sustainable future. I therefore, urge you to be attentive to all the training and adhere to the by-laws of the NYSC Scheme. This will not only enhance your interaction and tolerance, but also provide you a lifelong useful tool for communication that will enable you tackle the challenges ahead of you.
“I also commend the NYSC for sustaining the ideals of the founding fathers by fostering national unity, integration and development through building the entrepreneurship spirit among our youth in the course of the service year. The NYSC has continuously instilled in Nigerian youth the spirit of patriotism, loyalty and selfless service to the nation while, raising them to be self-reliant and innovative”.
Governor Idris disclosed that his administration is youth friendly stressed that the people of the state are peaceful, receptive in nature and will provide an enabling environment to maximise their potentials in keeping with the ideals of the NYSC.
“You are therefore, encouraged to be a part of the process by making positive impact in your host communities thereby, contributing your quota to nation building.
‘Let me place on record that, Kebbi State is peaceful so, be rest assured of your security, welfare and general well-being because, it is a top priority of the Kebbi State government. There exist a robust synergy between the state government and security agencies. This has been reflected in the caliber security agencies deployed to the Orientation Camp.
‘While wishing you a successful, hitch-free and rewarding Orientation course, I enjoin you to shun all forms of negative vices and embrace peace and unity.
At this point, it is my honour to declare the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Orientation course open”, he said.
Earlier, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Okolo Agatha Banki, discussed that corps members deployed to both Zamfara and Kebbi States were undergoing their orientation exercise in Kebbi State permanent orientation camp.
Banki,who appreciated the support of the state government, traditional rulers,host community, stressed that, the state Governor,Dr. Nasir Idris has been support the scheme in the state to sustain it’s purpose of establishment.
“Your Excellency Sir, I wish to inform you that this Orientation course is a combined one with some corps members from Zamfara State, dislodged to have their Orientation Camp here in Kebbi. Formed up on parade this morning Your Excellency is a total number of 1,760 Corps Members who have been duly registered as of midnight,being the cut-off date of registration nationwide.
“This disposition includes 1,260 Kebbi corps members(672 males,588 females) and 500( 350 males,150 females) Zamfara corps members. These comprises of 738 females and 1,022 males. It gladdens my heart to inform this gathering that since the commencement of this Orientation Course, this Batch of corps members have been outstanding in their response to training. They quickly acclimatised to the Camp environment and have been engaged in activities. This is highly commendable.
“Your Excellency Sir, at this point I want to thank you for supporting the NYSC in actualising the aims and objectives of the scheme in the state, and for the fatherly love you have exhibited to the corps members.
“My dear corps members, I urge you to uphold a high sense of discipline, tolerance, and proper understanding of the essence of the Orientation Course. I therefore challenge you to work towards distinguishing yourselves for Honours Awards right from the Camp, by actively contributing your quota to the success of the Orientation Course.
“Gentlemen corps members, while wishing you a successful and rewarding Orientation Exercise, I enjoin you to obey all Camp rules and regulations, respect Camp Officials and all constituted authorities. Furthermore, I urge you to relate freely with your colleagues to enable you benefit immensely from one another and establish lasting relationships.”
