Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Tunga, disclosed this yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, saying the approvals were part of Governor Nasir Idris’ efforts to strengthen tertiary education in the state.
Tunga said the government approved N172.15 million monthly for the payment of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowances (CATA) and Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowances (CONTTA) to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Non-Academic Technologists (NAAT) at AFUSTA.

According to him, the governor also approved N151.52 million to settle identified annual increment arrears owed staff of AFUSTA.
