Travellers seeking to explore Africa are set to have easier access to destination information, local experiences and practical travel tips with the launch of a new digital platform, KBUG.africa.
Evans Travel & Tours Limited unveiled the Africa-focused travel intelligence and discovery platform in Abuja, with its founder and director, Evans Aguiyi, saying it was created to bridge information gaps confronting travellers before and during their journeys.
KBUG, meaning “Know Before U Go,” brings together destination guides, cultural information, attractions, festivals, food, local experiences and practical travel resources in one digital environment.
Aguiyi said the platform was inspired by years of working directly with travellers and observing the difficulties many encounter when researching African destinations.
“Africa is one of the most diverse and fascinating places on earth, but discovering the continent can sometimes be challenging for people who don’t know where to start,” he said.
According to him, KBUG.africa is designed to give travellers the information and confidence they need to understand a destination before arriving.
Unlike conventional travel agencies that focus mainly on tours and accommodation, Aguiyi said KBUG was being developed as a broader knowledge and discovery platform.
He explained that users would be able to discover African countries and cities, learn about local cultures, attractions, festivals and food, explore experiences and obtain practical information needed to plan their journeys.
He said the platform would also create opportunities for travellers to connect with local businesses, service providers, experiences and destinations.
The launch comes amid growing global interest in African tourism and increasing reliance on digital technology by travellers researching and planning trips.
Aguiyi said KBUG was created to contribute to the digital transformation of the sector while presenting Africa from a more authentic and diverse perspective.
He said Africa should no longer be portrayed to the world mainly through safaris and wildlife.
“Africa is modern cities, ancient kingdoms, beaches, food, music, festivals, fashion, business, history, creativity and millions of people with stories to tell.
“KBUG is about helping the world discover Africa.”
The platform represents a new chapter for Evans Travel & Tours Limited, which has built its operations around West African travel planning, guided experiences and cross-border tourism.
The company has worked with travellers exploring Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and other destinations across the sub-region.
Aguiyi said the experience gained through the company’s traditional travel operations provided the foundation for taking its services into the digital space.
He stressed that KBUG.africa would not replace the company’s existing tourism services but complement them by providing a digital knowledge layer that could assist travellers before, during and after their trips.
He said the long-term ambition was to develop KBUG into a trusted digital destination for people seeking to understand, discover and experience Africa.
“With the launch of KBUG.africa, Evans Travel & Tours Limited is taking its next step from traditional travel services into the growing world of African travel technology,” Aguiyi said.
He added that the company’s ambition was to build a platform capable of connecting knowledge, technology, travellers and the wider African tourism ecosystem.
Evans Travel & Tours Limited specialises in guided tours, customised travel experiences, transportation, itinerary planning, visa assistance and cross-border travel across West Africa.
The company caters to both international and regional travellers seeking cultural, historical and immersive experiences.
KBUG.africa, founded by Aguiyi, is positioned as an Africa-focused travel intelligence and discovery platform designed to help visitors discover destinations, understand local cultures, access practical travel information and make better-informed travel decisions across the continent.
