Katsina police rescue Zamfara kidnap victims

The Katsina State police command has rescued five kidnap victims who were abducted by suspected terrorists in a Zamfara highway attack on March 9.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement on Tuesday gave their names as Bashir Malqm Sani, 25 years, Kamaladdeen Sani, 23 years, Musa Muhammad, 22 years, ⁠Sagir Umar, 20 years and Muntari Sama’ila, 20 years, all of Magamin Mai Tarko, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to the statement, “on March 25, 2024, at about 0735 hours, operatives of the Katsina State Police Command while on routine patrols around Masiga village, Kankara Local Government Area, succeeded in rescuing the kidnap victims.

“The victims who were en route to Zamfara State from FCT Abuja on 9/3/2024, were attacked and kidnapped by their kidnappers at Kushere village in Zamfara State and were taken to the Katsina forest, locked in chains, where they were eventually rescued by our operatives.

“Currently, the rescued victims are responding to medical treatment as efforts are being made to reunite them with their families as the investigation proceeds with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.”
