Kanu: IPOB says Google, BBC, UK colluding to pervert justice

From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Google, the BBC, and the UK Government of colluding to pervert justice in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB.  In a statement released by spokesperson of the group, Emma Powerful on Friday, IPOB claimed that these entities are manipulating information and suppressing truth to influence the outcome of Kanu’s trial.

Powerful noted that Google has allegedly refused to publish current developments in Kanu’s trial, instead promoting biased BBC reports that recycle discredited prosecution evidence. He accused the BBC of shamelessly promoting false information to give the impression that a prima facie case exists against Kanu. Powerful added that the UK Government is alleged to be complicit in the persecution of Kanu, having abandoned its obligations under international law in favour of protecting its colonial interests in Nigeria.

IPOB stated that Google and the BBC have crossed the line from journalism into complicity. The group warned that history would record the complicity of these entities in the perversion of justice and the enabling of tyranny in Nigeria.

It called on the international community, including the United Nations, the US Congress, and the Human Rights Council, to hold Google, the BBC, and the UK Government accountable for their alleged deception and complicity.
