President Bola Tinubu has condemned the gruesome murder of housewife Fatima Abubakar and her six children in Kano’s Chiranci community, labeling the crime as utterly barbaric.
In a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, he described the attack as barbaric, stressing that such savagery has no place in society. He commended the Nigeria Police Force for their “swift arrest of the principal suspects” and issued a direct order: “Investigate thoroughly and ensure the diligent prosecution of all involved.”

In a related development, President Tinubu has mourned the death of Alhaji Bature Abdulaziz, a towering figure in Kano’s business world, whose passing over the weekend has reverberated far beyond the state.
Describing the loss as one that “transcends the Kano business community and touches many parts of Nigeria” due to Abdulaziz’s vast influence on commerce, Tinubu highlighted the late businessman’s leadership as National President of the Harmonised Traders Association of Nigeria and other trade unions.
President Tinubu also praised Abdulaziz’s pivotal role in his 2023 campaign, noting his “persistent advocacy for national unity and patriotism” through the Patriotic Elders Network for Peace (PENP), which the deceased founded.
Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the Kano business community, residents, and state government, urging them to honor Abdulaziz’s legacy.

Kano State Government and security agencies have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to Malam Bala, it soon became clear that the attackers had not fled the scene but were hiding within the compound.
One suspect was discovered concealed in a toilet and was secured by security personnel, who believed he could lead them to others involved.
The rescue effort, however, came too late for the woman and her children.
The manner of the attack was described by neighbours as exceptionally violent, leaving the entire community traumatised.
