Kano govt seeks extension of World Bank Intervention projects in the state

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed for an extension of the various ongoing World Banks intervention projects in the state.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the extension would positively impact on the socio-economic development of the state.

The Governor spoke when he received the Country Director of World Bank, Shubham Chaudhuri at the Government House on Tuesday.

Abba also implored the Bank to prioritize Kano State in its poverty eradication interventions owing to the population of the state.

On his part, he pledged to monitor and adhere to standards of projects frameworks while stressing his commitment to quality service delivery and zero tolerance to corruption

He also lauded the Bank for its interventions in the areas of education, agricultural development, health care, water supply and sanitation, social protection, government reforms and climate change initiatives, among others.

Earlier, in his submission, World Bank Country Director, Shubham Chaudhuri, said his team was in the state to inspect some of its ongoing projects and cement relationship with the new administration.
