Residents of Faruruwa Community in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State has raised the alarm over bandits’ on their community and its environs.
Addressing journalists in Kano, the community through the chairman of its security committee, Yahaya Umar Bagobiri, said they were being hit hard by banditry noting that they have lost several lives, valuables such as livestock and money which were paid as ransom for freedom of their kidnapped relatives.
He regretted that the bandits who often cross into Kano State from neighbouring Katsina State were more in number than the 15 JTF security personnel stationed to man their community and its environs.

“They usually arrive in motorcycles carrying three bandits on each motorcycle and numbering more than 50 motorcycles – all armed with highly sophisticated weapons. Tell me, what can just 10 JTF members do in the face of their attacks.”
He appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to come to their aid by deploying more security operatives to the area to check the deplorable security situation.
“We are calling on the federal and state governments, particularly Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, to assist us and work closely with the security agencies, especially the army and police to protect our people.”
Bagobiri, who was flanked by community elders during the briefing, stressed that unless urgent measures are taken, the entire border communities in the area could be overrun by bandits.
