A total of 76 out of 87 persons kidnapped in Kajuru Station, Tantau 2 ward of Kajuru Local Government area of Kaduna State have so far regained their freedom from their abductors after payment of ransom which includes cash, Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) and other items.

Bandits terrorising the State had on March 18, 2024, reportedly stormed the area in commando style and went away with 87 locals before the arrival of soldiers in the area on that fateful day.

Unfortunately, four of the kidnapped victims were killed in bandits’ den with the bodies of two of them released while two others were not found, a credible source in the area told this correspondent.

According to the source, “in the last one week or thereabout, 76 of them have been released after the community sold all they have including seedlings for this planting season to raise the ransom in cash, 10 jerrycans (25 litres each) of fuel and other items.

“Unfortunately, we could not have four of them back into the community alive. Elisha Dauji and Awolowo’s corpses were seen and taken at Kujeni and buried in Kajuru Station.

“According to what the freed persons told us, Danbala Danjuma and one other person were killed in the kidnappers’ camp and their corpses were not found”.

The source further added that the bandits are still keeping the remaining seven persons with them, demanding additional ransom.

“They kept the remaining seven persons with them and demanded seven Honda motorcycles before they could release them. That is where we are now”, the source said.
