The Kaduna State Police Command on Monday said it has in its custody a fake soldier involved in criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and extension.
The Command’s Spokesman ASP Mansir Hassan said the suspect identified as Ya’u Ja’afar, was apprehended by diligent operatives of the Millennium City Police Division, Chikun local government area of the state on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at about 8 p.m.
Manair added that the arrest came following a report lodged by a concerned citizen, detailing a harrowing encounter with the suspect and his accomplices who are currently at large.
“According to the report, on the 16th of March, 2024, at around 2240hrs, Abdulrashid Musa, aged 20, accompanied by three other accomplices who are currently at large, brandished a shocking pistol to intimidate the complainant.
“The assailants then proceeded to rob the victim of #25,500 along with additional cash obtained from recent sales.
“Furthermore, they absconded with over ten mobile phones belonging to various individuals.
“Upon receiving the report, the surveillance team of the Millennium City Police Division promptly arrested the primary suspect, Ja’afar.
“Subsequent, a search warrant was executed at his residence, leading to the recovery of incriminating evidence, including a complete set of army camouflage and a short shocking pistol.
The arrest of Ya’u Ja’afar serves as a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice by the Kaduna State Police Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police Ali Audu Dabigi”, Mansir explained.
