The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has commended Arla Foods Nigeria for organising the second edition of the Arla-Dano Open Day, saying it reaffirms the company’s commitment to developing the dairy sector in the state and Nigeria at large.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdulkadir Mu’azu Mayere, Governor Sani made the commendation at the Arla-Dano VIP Open Day held at the Arla-Dano site in Damau, Kaduna State.
“The event is not just about commissioning a yoghurt factory or unveiling a new project, but about building a sustainable future for our farmers, our youth, and our economy,” Governor Sani said.
He noted that Kaduna State is a leading hub for agriculture in Nigeria, with fertile land, livestock endowments, and hardworking farmers, adding that the state’s administration recognises the potential and prioritises agricultural development in its rural transformation agenda.
“Agriculture accounts for over 51% of our GDP and employs about 70% of our population. We are committed to developing this sector and empowering our farmers,” Governor Sani said.
The governor disclosed that the state has invested significantly in the agricultural sector, allocating over 10% of its 2025 budget to agriculture, in line with the 2014 Malabo Declaration.
