Determined to deepen digitization of judicial services in Ogun State, the State Judiciary has announced the  introduction of a digital affidavit platform tagged ‘e-affidavit’ to the legal community and the general public.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu announced this  at an event organized to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Ogun Judiciary.

Dipeolu  explained that the innovation was in furtherance of the state judiciary’s commitment to a modern and technology driven justice system.

She noted that the newly introduced e-affidavit would enable the electronic processing and authentication of affidavits, thereby simplifying procedures, reducing delays, and enhancing transparency in service delivery.

The Chief Judge added that by leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accessibility, the Ogun  Judiciary will continue to align its processes with global best practices while making justice services more responsive to the needs of the people.

Justice Dipeolu who disclosed that the state judiciary had earlier introduced digital innovations such as electronic filing and virtual proceedings; and invested in continuous capacity development for judicial personnel, added that the arm of government had also pursued deliberate institutional transformation, expanded judicial divisions magisterial districts to improve access to justice.

“Judiciary has pursued deliberate institutional transformation. We have expanded judicial divisions and magisterial districts to improve access to justice; strengthened specialised courts and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms; introduced digital innovations such as electronic filing and virtual proceedings; and invested in continuous capacity development for judicial personnel. These initiatives are driven by a simple but enduring conviction: justice must be accessible, timely, and credible.

“It is in furtherance of this commitment to a modern and technology driven justice system that the Ogun State Judiciary is formally introducing the ‘e-affidavit’ platform to the legal community and the general public. This innovation enables the electronic processing and authentication of affidavits, thereby simplifying procedures, reducing delays, and enhancing transparency in service delivery. By leveraging technology to improve efficiency and accessibility, the Judiciary continues to align its processes with global best practices while making justice services more responsive to the needs of our people.

“We invite members of the Bar and the public to embrace this new platform as we collectively advance towards a more efficient and accessible justice system”,  the Ogun Chief Judge stated.

She, however, informed the gathering that Ogun now has five multi-door courthouses  to expand access to justice and strengthen efficient dispute resolution.

Justice Dipeolu added that the  Multi-Door Courthouse which was  established during the administration of Hon. Justice O. O. Olopade with two pioneer centres in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode, has grown remarkably to five centres.

“From that visionary beginning, the institution has grown remarkably. It has now expanded to five functional centres across Ogun State, bringing alternative dispute resolution closer to our people. I am delighted to inform this distinguished audience that the sixth centre at Ilaro is ready for commissioning, while the seventh centre at Idi-Oke is nearing completion. This steady expansion reflects our commitment to accessible, efficient, and people-centred justice through diverse and innovative pathways”,  she stated.

Justice Dipeolu, however, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for the provision of infrastructure, welfare support, and enabling policies that have significantly enhanced Ogun Judiciary capacity to deliver justice effectively.

Highlights of the 50th anniversary include presentation of awards to living pioneers, living past Chief Judges and former Attorneys-General whose service and partnership strengthened the administration of justice in Ogun State, official launch of Ogun State Judiciary at 50, the 2026 Staff Manual, and the Ogun Multidoor Court House Practice Direction, 2026.
