Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, narrowly escaped death on Friday afternoon when a heavy-duty vehicle broke into his convoy and rammed into his car.
The incident occurred along the Timber shade axis of Abakaliki -Afikpo road as the guber candidate and his team were returning from a campaign rally in Uburu , Ohaozara local government area of the state.
Director General of Divine Mandate Campaign Council, Chief Austine Umahi confirmed the incident to journalists in Abakaliki, adding that the Chairman of APC in the state, Stanley Okoro-emegha and former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Chief Frank Ogbuewu, were in the same vehicle with the guber candidate when the incident occurred.
He thanked God for protecting the life of their candidate and other occupants of his car.
” Yes, a truck rammed into our convoy as we were returning from our campaign in Ohaozara this afternoon. But we thank God almighty for the safety of our guber candidate and other occupants of the car. Our State Chairman, Stanley Okoro-emegha and Chief Frank Ogbuewu were also in the car but they are all safe and sound, and no injury at all.But the vehicle was damaged beyond repair” he said.
