A new Commissioner of Police, Okoro Alawari Julius, has assumed duty at the Benue State Police Command.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Catherine Anene, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, yesterday.
Okoro is taking over from Wale Abass, who has been posted out of the state.
The statement noted that the CP, who hails from Bayelsa state was appointed a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on March 3, 1990.
“As a young officer in the Force, he served in different capacities across the country. He also served in Liberia as a contingent commander under the United Nations peacekeeping mission 2006-2007.
“In the year 2014, he was promoted to the rank of an Assistant Commissioner of Police and posted as Area Commander Damaturu and later ACP Operations Yobe State Command. In Lagos State, he served as ACP Operations and Area Commander Apapa.
“In the year 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and posted as DC CID, Ekiti and served also in the Department of Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja, DC Operations Calabar and DC Maritime, Lagos.”
The statement said CP Okoro was promoted to his current rank on March 3, 2022 and posted as the Force Provost Marshal, Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he last served before his posting to Benue State.
