A member of the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Caucus and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Salman Jawondo (SAN), has alleged that the party’s 2026 governorship primary was marred by fraud.
Jawondo claimed that the process which produced Danladi-Salihu as the APC governorship candidate lacked transparency, insisting that no voting took place during the exercise.
According to him, the primary election was initially scheduled for Thursday, with party members turning out in anticipation of voting before it was postponed to Friday.

He said that by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, party members were still waiting for the exercise to commence. At about 4:00 p.m., attendees were directed to the Banquet Hall, and barely an hour later, the results had already been announced.
“There was no election anywhere in Kwara State. The primary was originally scheduled for Thursday, and people turned out to vote, but it was postponed until Friday. By 3:00 p.m. on Friday, everyone was still waiting. At about 4:00 p.m., an announcement directed people to the Banquet Hall, and by 5:00 p.m., the results had already been announced. There was never any voting process,” Jawondo said.
The senior advocate maintained that the process that produced Danladi-Salihu as the party’s governorship flagbearer was fraudulent, raising concerns over the credibility of the primary election.
