Across Yewa Land in Ogun State, one name that is fast becoming synonymous with quiet transformation and purposeful generosity is Jamiu Odunayo Ogundele. In a region where development challenges often outpace public support, Ogundele, an engineer by training, is carving out a unique role not as a politician or public official, but as a businessman driven by compassion. Through his foundation, the Engr. Ogundele Jamiu Foundation (EOJF), the gentleman is changing lives and reshaping communities with a clear message: “Philanthropy is a passion for me, not for politics.”
His recent philanthropic activities through his foundation have attracted widespread attention and appreciation. From educational outreach and medical support to infrastructure repair and community welfare, the foundation is filling critical gaps where government interventions fall short.
Over the past few months, Ogundele, through his Foundation, has initiated several projects across Yewa Land, many of which directly impact underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Originally known for his work in business, particularly in government contracts, real estate, and property development, Ogundele, the esteemed Chairman of Jamsalod Group, has steadily built a reputation for integrity and community-mindedness. His business ventures have exposed him to the needs of the people at the grassroots, and it is from this awareness that the Foundation was born. Rather than limit his impact to the boardroom, Ogundele has chosen to extend it to the streets, schools, hospitals, and homes of Yewa Land.
The foundation’s interventions are already leaving a tangible mark. In rural towns where access to basic healthcare has long been a struggle, EOJF has organised free medical outreach programmes. In schools where students previously shared worn-out desks or sat on bare floors, the foundation has stepped in to renovate classrooms and supply learning materials. Community roads and public facilities long neglected are now receiving attention and care through EOJF’s direct funding and oversight.
What stands out most in Ogundele’s story is not just what he gives, but how and why he gives. These are not campaign promises or publicity stunts. There are no strings attached —no posters, no rallies, no slogans— only the consistent presence of a man who believes in building up his people without asking for anything in return. Yet despite the growing visibility, Ogundele remains clear and consistent in his motivation. For him, the motivation is simple: to uplift, empower, and restore dignity to the lives of ordinary people. The businessman has a firm belief that those who have the means also have a responsibility. His commitment, he says, is rooted in a personal passion to give back not a strategic bid for political relevance.
“People often assume that when you’re giving, you must be preparing for office,” Ogundele said. “But that’s not the case for me. Philanthropy is something I’m passionate about. It comes from my heart, not from a strategy.” His words resonate especially in a climate where political ambitions often overshadow genuine community service.
In a time when the lines between charity and ambition are often blurred, Ogundele offers a refreshing example. His philanthropy is not performative but purposeful.
