The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board  (JAMB), has commenced the sale of direct entry application form for candidates who have A-level results and wish to gain direct admission to degree programmes in Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The board also announced the sale of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application form for Nigerians abroad as well as foreign candidates who desired to attend tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, indicated yesterday in Abuja that registration process was still the same with the UTME.

He said candidates were expected to create a profile and obtain a unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) after which they would proceed to accredited Computer Base Test (CBT) centres for biometric capturing.

The board advised candidates to obtain the PIN at Interswitch, Remita platform or any of the commercial banks earlier approved by the Board for the vending of UTME PIN.

It warned candidates against the activities of fraudsters who might try to hoodwink them with unrealistic promises regarding the change of course or institution, insisting that such window was not yet opened.

It attributed the delay to ongoing system upgrade that would tighten the loose nuts and ensure smooth process and avoid encumbrances.

“Candidates need not to panic or get desperate over deadline because provision has been made for candidates that are desirous of a change of course or institution to do so as the platform will remain open until the close of admission,” Benjamin stated.

He, however, clarified that it was not JAMB’s responsibility to determine the cut off marks for 2017 admission process but the duty of education stakeholders after policy committee meeting to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.
