One of the most iconic tourist attractions in Abuja, Jabi Lake Waterfront, is set to witness a major transformation.
This is part of a larger effort to reposition the waterfront as a premier destination for leisure, entertainment, tourism and lifestyle.
To this end, Akida Hills, a Nigerian mixed-use real estate and destination development company, has secured a 3.36-hectare site within the larger 14-hectare waterfront district, where it plans to create a vibrant mix of attractions designed to appeal to residents, visitors and tourists.
The project, which will feature West Africa’s first dancing musical fountain, is expected to reshape the recreational and tourism landscape of Nigeria’s capital city when it opens this December.
According to the company, the project is aimed at unlocking the enormous potential of Jabi Lake by creating a destination that combines recreation, culture, hospitality, and community engagement.
The initiative is also expected to contribute significantly to economic growth through job creation, increased tourism activity, and business opportunities.
Speaking, Founder of Akida Hills, Kayode Bamisile, described Jabi Lake as one of the most promising opportunities for destination-led development on the African continent.

“The company’s vision is to create a waterfront experience that attracts visitors throughout the year, while showcasing Abuja as a leading tourism and lifestyle destination,” he said.
The first phase of the project, scheduled for completion in December 2026, will introduce a variety of attractions and experiences. These include waterfront dining and leisure facilities, water-based recreational activities, structured weekly entertainment programmes and seasonal lights festival.
At the heart of the development is the dancing musical fountain, which is expected to become a signature attraction and a major attraction for visitors.
Designed as a centerpiece, the fountain will feature choreographed water displays synchronized with music and lighting effects. The attraction is intended to create a unique evening spectacle that will enhance visitor engagement and establish a new landmark within Abuja.
Beyond entertainment, the project seeks to foster social interaction and community participation by providing public spaces where people can relax, gather and enjoy a range of activities. Additional attractions and amenities would be introduced in subsequent phases as the development expands.
Upon completion, the Jabi Lake waterfront project is expected to emerge as a major tourism, recreation and entertainment hub, strengthening Abuja’s reputation as one of Africa’s most attractive urban destinations. Construction and implementation will continue in phases, with Akida Hills promising further announcements on attractions, programming and commercial partnerships ahead of the December launch.
