Obi of Obinugwu kingdom and Chairman, Imo State Council of Elders, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, has described the death of President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, CFR, as not just a painful loss, but also an eclipse that has fallen Igbos and Nigeria .
He posited that that the death of the foremost entrepreneur and statesman, is a major set back to Ndigbo and Nigeria as a nation, pointing out that Iwuanyanwu epitomized nationalism and unity in diversity. He regretted that his demise is demoralizing and very excruciating.
According to the Eze Ilomuanya, who is also co-chairman, Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, “Ahaejiagamba was a selfless leader, patriot, statesman and nationalist, who devoted his time building bridges of unity and cooperation among Nigerians irrespective of our diverse religious, tribal, linguistic and cultural backgrounds. He stood firmly for one Nigeria built on egalitarianism,fairness and justice for all. Sadly, today, he is no more. To me, his death is like an eclipse that has befallen all of us.”
The monarch, however, stated that Nigerians should pray fervently for the peaceful repose of Chief Iwuanyanwu’s soul in God’s bosom, stressing that Nigerians should emulate the late sage’s nationalistic and patriotic dispositions, and build on them so that the noble and worthy legacies he left behind would remain aglow. He condoled with the family of Iwuanyanwu, the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbos in general, over this great loss, averring that Iwuanyanwu’s memory would ever remain indelible in the minds of Nigerians.
