In commemoration of the International Women’s Day (IWD), female employees of Intercontinental Distillers Limited (IDL), popularly known as the IDL Amazons, held a mentorship outreach for students of Iganmode Grammar School, Ota.

The programme, themed: “Focus Is the Flex,” is aimed at inspiring young people to prioritise education, personal development and responsible decision-making in the face of modern social pressures.

IDL’s Human Resources Manager, and Team Lead for the IDL Amazons, Mrs. Bertina Bamgbose  stated that the initiative aligns with the global spirit of IWD by empowering youths within the company’s host communities.

“The programme  was designed to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and resilience needed to navigate social pressures while staying committed to their ambitions,” Bamgbose said.

She emphasised that IDL views local students as vital stakeholders whose well-being is essential to the future of society.

The event featured a session by psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Elegbede, who spoke on the intersection of mental health and academic success.

She urged students to maintain healthy lifestyles and make choices that support their long-term aspirations rather than seeking short-term gratification.

The outreach resonated deeply with the participants, as Praise Oluwadamilola (SS3 Science) noted that the session served as a powerful motivator to remain focused on her studies.

Alaka Boluwatife said the program helped students realize they can enjoy their youth while remaining disciplined regarding their academic goals.

The IDL Amazons concluded by reaffirming the company’s commitment to youth development, noting that similar outreaches will be extended to other schools in the future.
