The Centre for Correction and Human Development (CCHD) has called on women to embrace generosity, mentorship, and courageous leadership as tools for personal and societal advancement.
This was said on Sunday during a virtual seminar to mark International Women’s Month. The seminar, with theme; “Give to Gain” under this year’s topic “Beyond the Surface,” explored the value of women in society, the challenges they face, and steps to help them grow and thrive.
The convener, Obioma Agoziem, who opened the session, described “Give to Gain” as a principle built on support and mutual progress, stressing that giving goes beyond money or material resources. “It can also mean offering support, sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and creating opportunities that help people grow,” she said.

Agoziem described women as life-givers and natural nurturers whose presence stabilises families and communities, arguing that empowering women produces dividends for entire societies. “When women thrive, communities grow and nations prosper,” she said.
She also acknowledged the challenges many women navigate daily, including balancing responsibilities across home, career, and community, alongside broader issues of gender inequality and economic independence. As solutions, she urged women to pursue education, seek professional support, embrace mentorship, and actively participate in leadership opportunities.
The second speaker, Stephanie Nwanmah, echoed that call to action, urging women not to wait for perfect conditions before stepping forward. “When women rise, the world rises with them,” she said, adding that leadership is not defined by titles but by vision, courage, and the ability to guide others. She also stressed the importance of solidarity among women, noting that when women lift one another, families and communities grow stronger.
Closing the seminar, Dr. Abigail Onwuagba encouraged participants to make generosity a way of life. “Life is not only about storing wealth or keeping everything for ourselves, but about blessing others and making meaningful impact with what we have,” she said.
