The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has said he has not been intimate with any woman other than his wife, Sherifat, since they got married.
Aregbesola made the declaration while addressing supporters at an ADC rally in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking in Yoruba, the former Osun State governor said his decision to remain faithful to his wife was rooted in a personal commitment he made as part of his devotion to God.
Aregbesola told the gathering that although such a declaration was uncommon among many men, he had remained committed to the promise he made to God.
“Oh Lord my God, if you are the one I am serving, and I did not add any other thing to it. What I am about to say, only a few men can say it: Because of your fear, I never had any intimacy with another woman since I married my wife,” Aregbesola said.
He added, “I told God that next June, we must do it at the government house.”
The statement came as Aregbesola campaigned for the ADC ahead of the Osun governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is contesting on the platform of the Accord Party, is seeking another term in office.
Adeleke is facing Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Najeem Folasayo Salaam of the ADC in the election.
