Industrial Training Fund (ITF), under its Director General, Afiz Oluwatoyin, has been commended for making a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians, especially youths from across the country
The commendations came, yesterday, at a one-day event for beneficiaries of the agency’s skills programmes in Abuja. The youths hailed the Oluwatoyin-led ITF for fostering entrepreneurial skills and bringing up options and pathways out of youth unemployment and economic stagnation.
The event was organised after a two-month training and entrepreneurial development skills programme in various trades and vocations, including carpentry, catering, tiling, welding and fabrication, and electrical installations and maintenance, which involved several youths from the six geo-political zones.
Describing him as a man of impeccable character and robust conscience, beneficiaries said Oluwatoyin was one of the outstanding performers in the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying he was a “shining example, a model to all of us of what service is all about. Nigeria should count itself as blessed for producing somebody like him.”
They praised the ITF for giving a lifeline and springboard to women and youths, and improving human resources and technological capacity of Nigerians through the acquisition of vocational skills.
In a statement issued at the end of the gathering by the chairperson of Nigeria Youth Entrepreneurship Development Movement (NYEDM), Roseline Kalu, the youths praised Oluwatoyin for performing creditably, raising the agency to greater heights and making the nation proud by his feats.
The statement highlighted the systematic and intensive nature of the training. The youths commended Oluwatoyin for supporting Nigeria’s growth through various intervention programmes.
The ITF recently empowered over 3,700 youths from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory under the National Economic Growth and Recovery Programme of the Federal Government, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, where several youths received starter packs to help them launch their entrepreneurial ventures, certificates and National Occupational Standard certificates regulated by the National Board for Technical Education and Business.
