Iran told the United Nations on Monday that it would not bow to what it described as “lawless aggression,” warning that the lives of millions of its citizens were under threat following strikes by United States and Israel.

Speaking at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Iran’s ambassador Ali Bahreini said the most urgent issue facing the country was the safety of its population amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East.

“The most urgent and fundamental human rights issue concerning Iran is the imminent threat to the lives of 90 million people whose lives are in immediate and grave danger under the shadow of reckless military aggression,” Bahreini told the council.

He described the attacks as actions by “some of the most lawless and unscrupulous actors on the international stage,” warning that if such conduct was ignored, other nations could face similar treatment in the future.

The envoy also accused the United States and Israel of carrying out missile strikes on civilian locations, including a school in the southern Iranian city of Minab.

Washington said it was investigating the claim, while independent verification of the incident remained unavailable.

Bahreini told the council that more than 1,300 people had been killed and over 7,000 injured in Iran since the strikes began, raising concerns about the growing humanitarian toll of the conflict.

“Iran is not a nation that submits to coercion, intimidation or lawless aggression,” he said, insisting that Tehran would resist external pressure as the crisis continues to unfold across the region.
