Israel’s military on Thursday said it carried out an airstrike on a facility in Iran believed to be connected to the country’s nuclear weapons development efforts, marking another escalation in the deepening confrontation between the two nations.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces said the strike targeted what it described as the Taleghan compound, a site the military claims has been used by Tehran to advance sensitive components of its nuclear programme.
“The Israeli Air Force, acting on precise IDF intelligence, struck an additional Iranian nuclear programme site,” the military said. “The Taleghan compound was utilised by the regime to advance critical capabilities for developing nuclear weapons.”

The location is believed to be part of the wider Parchin military complex on the outskirts of Tehran, an area long monitored by Western analysts over suspicions of covert military-linked nuclear activities.
Israeli officials said intelligence assessments suggested Iranian authorities had recently resumed work at the compound despite damage from earlier strikes during the ongoing hostilities.
“The IDF has recently identified that the regime has taken steps to rehabilitate the compound after it was struck in October 2024,” the military added.
Iran has consistently denied pursuing nuclear weapons, maintaining that its nuclear activities are strictly for civilian and energy purposes despite repeated accusations from Israel and Western governments.
