The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Monday Okpebholo aka ‘Akpakomiza’ Friday said Edo women will be accorded their right of place in his administration if he is elected the governor of Edo State in the forthcoming September 21th governorship election.
The Federal lawmaker who emerged the APC governorship candidate last month stated this in a good will message to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s day with the theme, ” Inspire inclusion” described this year’s theme apt and bring to fore the clamour for inclusivity noted that the role of women in development of the society cannot be overemphasized.
Okpebholo said women world over must be encouraged to harness their potentials towards the advancement of a better society adding that Edo women over the years have contributed immensely not just the development of the state but Nigeria and globally.
He said, “I’m delighted to lend my voice in support of our mothers on this day of International Women’s day. I want to assure our courageous Edo women that by the grace of God if elected the governor of Edo State, women will play a pivotal role in my administration and be given their right of place.
“I want to note that my administration will encourage and collaborate with women group in a bid to work closely with them to eliminate poverty especially among our rural women. My administration will not only empower women but also train and increase their capacity with the right tools to do better.
“We will place special priority in tackling all negative gender issues that have over the years limited the hidden potential hampering our women in attaining their goals in life because our women are our pride and must encourage and supported.
