Inter Lagos recorded its first victory of the current Nigeria National League season by defeating Igbajo United FC 2-0 in front of their fans at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Among the attendees at the match was the Chairman of the NNL, George Aluo, alongside other dignitaries.
After narrowly losing to Dakkada FC 1-0 in their away opener, the Pride of Lagos showcased their skills to the delight of their fans in their first home game.
Arowolo Jamiu and Egbo Othuke each contributed a goal—one in each half—to secure the win.
Inter Lagos set the pace early in the match, dominating possession and pinning Igbajo United in their half. Favor Aroyameh played a crucial role in midfield, expertly orchestrating the play with precise passing and creating scoring opportunities for the forwards.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half when Arowolo Jamiu scored from a corner, giving the home team a well-deserved 1-0 lead. The first half ended with the home side ahead.
Continuing their dominance in the second half, Rasheed Owolabi excelled in disrupting Igbajo’s play and recovering possession, which kept the pressure on their opponents. Despite numerous attempts to score a second goal, it wasn’t until the 77th minute that Inter Lagos was awarded a penalty, which Othuke Egbo successfully converted to seal the victory.
Inter Lagos FC’s performance demonstrated their balance and teamwork as they continue their quest for promotion this season.
In their next match, the Lagos team will face Abia Comets away from home.
