It was a grand return to the social scene on Saturday 30 December 2023 for the mercurial property magnate, Otunba Yemi Saheed Lawal as he threw a jaw-dropping end-of-the-year wedding celebration for his fourth child and first daughter, Olayemi Hafisat Lawal who tied the knot with her dashing beau, Olanrewaju Awe. The nuptial was nothing short of a spectacle. It was a wedding fit for a progeny of an aristocrat, as the wealthy founder of Seagle Property Development Company spared no expense to host over 1000 guests to an awesome extravaganza. The traditional marriage of Olayemi, the University of Leicester Law graduate and her hubby held earlier during the Christmas weekend at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Nikkah later took place at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, while the wedding reception took place at the luxurious Landmark Event Centre, in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Indeed, the array of guests at the event was a testament to the goodwill and respect the bride’s father enjoys among the members of Nigeria’s business and social elites. The glamorous affair saw many dignitaries, business titans, royal fathers and many esteemed personalities in attendance. President Bola Tinubu, represented by Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Governor Dapo Abiodun, Former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Sir Kessington Adebutu and Ooni Enitan Ogunwusi were among the esteemed guests who graced the extravagant wedding. Otunba Lawal and his beloved wife, Erelu Ayotunde Lawal ensured that guests were treated to choice drinks and food. One of the highlights of the event was the champagne, which were brought into the venue in flûtes on trays. The celebration was made grander by enthralling performances by two of Nigeria’s music legends —King Sunny Ade and Evangelist Ebenezer Obey— who serenaded guests of the Lawals with their timeless tunes.
