Comissioner of Police, Katsina State, Mr Shehu Umar Nadada, has charged officers to brace up to confront security challenges facing the state: “The command also nabbed 20 suspected criminals and recovered some sophisticated weapons from them when they were routed from their hideouts.

“The command is ready to face criminals terrorising residents. l have started the  redeployment of  my tactical  team and operations officers to all the flashpoints. We are going to flush the bandits out of the state.

“l encouraged my officers by  given them full support in the task ahead. There is going to be constant raid on all the hideouts of the hoodlums. We will carry out stop-and-search to make sure that everywhere is safe.

“We need the support of the state government. The government should provide us with operational vehicles to enable us to checkmate the hoodlums.

“The directive of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, that police should relate positively with the community will be carried out. We will need the support of the public.

“There is the need for the police to work together with community leaders to ensure hoodlums are routed out of their environs. We need vital information through the stakeholders to pave way for peace in the state.”

Meanwhile police arrested 10 suspected armed robbers. They were operating on the Katsina-Zaria Expressway and Katsina axis.  Pump action magazines and 30 round of cartridges were recovered from them.

Nadada said: “All the arrested suspects will be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.”
