The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, HRM Orcivirigh Prof James Ayatse has urged the Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka, not to spare anyone but to deal decisively with perpetrators of criminalities in the state.
He assured the commissioner of the full cooperation of the traditional rulers in the state to effectively carry out his assignment to tackle insecurity and crime in Benue.
The Tor Tiv who spoke when he received the Benue Police Commissioner on a courtesy visit in his palace in Gboko, expressed confidence in the ability of CP Onyeka to flush out bandits and criminals in Benue.
The Tor Tiv regretted that despite all efforts of mobilizing forces over the years to address the challenge of insecurity in Benue, they have proven futile especially in the Sankera axis of his kingdom where lives and property have been destroyed on a large scale.
While expressing joy that the CP already have an idea of the challenge of insecurity in Benue while serving as CP in Plateau before his deployment, noted that the commissioner came fully prepared for the assignment with outstanding strategies.
The Tor Tiv who is the chairman Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers urged the CP to perform his assignment without fear or favour and not spare whosoever is involved to achieve maximum results.
While speaking earlier, CP Onyeka said he visited the Tor Tiv to solicit for his blessings and support in his task of protecting lives and property in Benue State.
He stated that he cannot effectively operate without synergizing with other security agencies and the traditional rulers who are the custodians of the cultures and traditions of the people and requested the Tiv monarch to appeal to his subjects and traditional rulers to avail the Police with proper information to perform better.
The Police Commissioner further lamented that the Benue State Police Command is in dire need of logistics which adversely hampered smooth fight against insecurity in the state and called on the him to speak to relevant authorities to provide them with the logistics.
He assured the Tor Tiv that with the strategies he mapped up to handle criminals and bandits, Benue will soon experience unprecedented peace not seen before.
