The Indigenous Movie Makers Association of Nigeria (IMMAN) has been tasked to use their talents to promote morality and indIgenous culture in their films.

Former commissioner of information and strategy in Lagos State,  Kehinde Bemigbetan, who stated this at the inauguration of the new IMMAN executives in Lagos, said members of the group were like language protectors, whose platform could be used to showcase the Nigeria’s rich culture and languages.

He tasked the new exco to ensure that events and happenings in society are mirrored in their works in a way that it improves the morality of the audience.

“Parents should also encourage their wards to speak our indigenous languages,” he added.

The new president of IMMAN and chief executive officer of X-Media Communications Ltd,  Tunde Lawrenson, said their focus as new executives includes accountability, transparency, responsibility and good contents.

“We will ensure that we have regular human capital development and to also ensure that as an association we produce quality indigenous movies that can stand the test of time,” he said

While commending the Lagos State government for its support, Lawrenson said IMMAN will also leverage on its partnership drive and build the IMMAN Trust Fund that would take care of the welfare of practitioners.

“I urge the new excos to work effectively with the government to foster growth and development and welfare of all movie makers in Nigeria irrespective of their state, tribe and religion. As practitioners and movie makers having been in the business for a while now, we’ll try to continue to improve in the making of indigenous movies in Nigeria,” he said.

Chairman, Board of Trustees of IMMAN, Dr. Leke Egberongbe, called on the group to keep abreast with new developments in the industry.
