The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, led top security officials on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State. This visit forms part of the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and ensure lasting stability across the state.

Lieutenant General Shaibu was briefed by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, who provided updates on current operations and proactive measures being taken by security agencies to mitigate threats, safeguard lives, and stabilise affected communities.

As part of his engagement, Lieutenant General Shaibu held discussions with local leaders and residents, reaffirming the Army’s dedication to protecting law-abiding citizens. He urged the public to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with security operations, particularly in adhering to the curfew and supporting ongoing investigations.

The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Hon. Dachung Bagos, expressed gratitude for the COAS’s visit, noting that the presence of such high-ranking military leadership would bolster public confidence and reinforce trust in security efforts. Councillor Ladi Dangyok, representing Naraguta ‘B’ Ward, also commended the swift intervention, viewing it as a reassuring sign of commitment to affected communities.

The Nigerian Army, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Shaibu, continues to work closely with other security agencies, the Plateau State Government, and key stakeholders to tackle security issues head-on. This collaborative approach is central to the Army’s strategic resolve to restore peace and ensure the continued safety of Plateau State.
