In a remarkable show of commitment to youth empowerment and education, Mr. Charles Obinna, Chairman, Wheelbarrow Group, has received widespread commendation from stakeholders for sponsoring the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination registration of 1,350 students from the 27 local government areas of Imo State.
The initiative, which aims to support indigent but brilliant students in their pursuit of higher education, has been hailed as a lifeline for many families struggling with financial difficulties.
Stakeholders, including community leaders, educationists, parents, and youth organizations, have lauded Obinna’s generosity, describing it as a game-changer for educational development in Imo State.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to unveil the beneficiaries, Chief Samuel Okoro, a journalist, commended Obinna for his selfless investment in the future of Imo youths.
“This is the kind of leadership we need. Education is the foundation of progress, and Mr. Charles Obinna has shown that he is ready to invest in the next generation,” he stated.
Similarly, Mrs. Nkechi Ibe, a secondary school teacher in Owerri, noted that many of her students had almost given up on registering for JAMB due to financial constraints.
“This initiative has lifted a heavy burden off the shoulders of many parents. It is a testament to the benefactor’s vision for a better Imo where education is accessible to all,” she said.
A beneficiary, Louis Iheukwu, expressed his gratitude, saying: “Without this support, I wouldn’t have been able to register. This has given me a chance to chase my dreams.”
In his remarks, Charles Obinna, who is the Founder and President of the Charles Obinna Foundation, emphasized that his sponsorship of JAMB examination registration aligns with his broader vision of ensuring the transformation education in Imo State.
“Right from the scratch, I have always loved being of assistance to people. I love to encourage and make people feel a sense of belonging. It’s a part of me, like a hobby, even during my days in primary school, and I have to continue to do that,” Obinna stated.
He further reassured the beneficiaries of his long-term commitment, “I have made a promise that anybody that does very well in the exam will continue to receive assistance and support from my foundation.”
Obinna also underscored his ambition to position Imo State as a leader in education, stating: “We want our state to be the best in education in the country in the near future.”
With this initiative, Obinna has further warmed himself in the hearts of the people of Imo State as an emerging leader to watch.
His action has resonated with many residents who now see him as a leader genuinely committed to grassroots development and youth empowerment.
