Imo govt to disburse N1b to SMEs

The Imo State government has concluded plans to disburse a sum of N1 billion to assists small and medium scale enterprises and agro-allied businesses in the state.

This was just as the state government disclosed that efforts are being made to resuscitate the ailing Imo Palms Plantation and the Avutu Poultry farms which it says would increase the internally Generated Revenue of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Planning and Economic Adviser to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Mr. Ike Njoku, disclosed this, on Wednesday, during a press briefing.

He maintained that the state government had secure a soft loan from the Federal Government to be disbursed to small and medium scale and agro-allied businesses mostly operated by the youths, women and the physically challenged in  the communities.

He said the loans which must be repaid within a period of a year would be given to those who are beneficiaries after due diligence have been conducted by their businesses.
