As Imo State celebrates its 50th anniversary, the Myke and Joy Foundation has seized the opportunity to mark the occasion with a significant empowerment programme. The foundation has launched a scheme to support Governor Hope Uzodimma’s achievements, empowering 600 widows with tools and resources to help them sustain themselves .

The initiative, according to the founder, Myke Onyekachi, while briefing journalists in Owerri, said it’s part of the foundation’s broader efforts to support women and vulnerable groups in the state.

He explained that the foundation has been involved in various philanthropic activities, including education support, skills development, and economic empowerment programmes.

Onyekachi, explaining reasons for supporting governor Uzodimma with the empowerment programmes, emphasised that it was to honour his exemplary leadership.

He said, “I formally announce the launch of the Hope Uzodimma Legacy Empowerment Scheme, an initiative conceived to honour exemplary leadership, celebrate our state’s golden jubilee, and create lasting opportunities for the people of our federal constituency. This is a call to service, a commitment to our people, and a tribute to visionary governance.

“Just one week ago, in my beloved Mgbala Agwa community,

I had the privilege of registering 50 students for the West African Examinations Council examinations. These young minds, filled with dreams and aspirations, represent the future of our great state. Yesterday, I was honoured to empower 600 widows in Agwa, providing them with the tools and resources necessary to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to our society.

“These interventions, though modest in scope, have reinforced my belief that true leadership is not measured by what we accumulate for ourselves, but by what we give back to those who need it most. They have also strengthened my resolve to do more, to think bigger, and to create lasting legacies that will outlive us all.

“As Imo State celebrates her 50th anniversary, we are presented with a unique opportunity to reflect on our journey as a people, to celebrate our achievements, and to chart a new course for the yet unborn generations. Fifty years is not just a number; it is a testament to resilience, unity, and the unwavering spirit of the Imo people.

“It is in answer to this question that I have conceived the Hope Uzodimma Legacy Empowerment Scheme. This initiative is not just another empowerment programme; it is a deliberate and strategic investment in the human capital of our federal constituency and a tribute to a leader who has demonstrated that governance can be both transformative and inclusive.

“His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, has shown that leadership is about service, that power is a responsibility, and that the measure of a government is in the lives it touches and transforms. Under his watch, Imo State has experienced unprecedented development in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Onyekachi stated.
