Eintracht Frankfurt’s German goalkeeper, Michael Zetterer is relishing the prospect of making his UEFA Champions League debut against Galatasaray, and says he will not be intimidated by the occasion or by the names he will be facing.

The 30-year-old is preparing to feature in Europe’s elite competition for the first time in his career when Galatasaray visit the Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday, September 18.

Zetterer could come up against Galatasaray’s dangerman Victor Osimhen, who previously faced Frankfurt in the Champions League during his time at Napoli.

The Nigerian international has particularly fond memories of Eintracht Frankfurt, having scored three goals against them in the 2022–23 campaign, his best return against any opponent in the competition.

Osimhen is racing against the clock to regain full fitness in time for the trip to Frankfurt, having sustained an injury on international duty with the Super Eagles ten days ago.

Zetterer has insisted that he is not scared of Osimhen, one of the most high-profile forwards in European football.

In quotes relayed by SGE4EVER.de, he said: “I have no more or less respect for him than I do for a striker in the Bundesliga or the DFB Cup.

“Maybe his name is more familiar, but in terms of respect, that doesn’t change anything for me.”
