I’m behind Tinubu on LG reforms – Ex APC chair

A former national acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Hillard Eta says he is 100% behind President Tinubu on local government reforms.
The former national chairman disclosed this in an interview during the launch of a book – “Nigeria my country” authored by former presidential aide, Obol Okoi Obono Obla in Calabar.
“What the president is trying to do by making local governments independent of the states given the structure as it is in the constitution I support 100%”, he said.
Speaking on the book Chief Eta who stood in for the special guest of honor for the launching and former Nasarawa State governor His Excellency Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura described the work as a seminal classic.
“The ability to leave intelligent words behind on paper to help humanity advance for example the broken systems of Nigeria, crying out and saying we can do better will help guide our children.
“The book is a seminal classic that reflects the social realities of our beloved country.
“Not only has he brought to the fore the myriads of challenges facing Nigeria, nay the African Continent, he has generously shared his ideas of how to deal with these malaises”, he said.
Also speaking, the Cross River State governor Senator Bassey Otu said the author has ventured all his life in the political trenches and was always on the right side.
The governor who was represented by the secretary to the state government Professor Anthony Owan Enoh said Chief Obla played a critical role in the evolution of the party in the state and be will always stand by him.
Author of the book, Chief Okoi Obono Obla, a former presidential aide to President Muhammadu Buhari said the book covers a wide range of issues including politics, governance, history, culture and philosophy.
He said the idea of the book is “to take my readers on a literary odyssey of sorts, sharing my perspective of how we can make the society, particularly Nigeria, a better place”.
On local government reforms, he said he is also behind the president as the system has been emasculated.
He added that local governments in the country have become dysfunctional, crippled and since 1999, there is absolutely nothing to show.
