The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Balogun Business Association (BBA) at the Trade Fair Complex, along the Badagry-Mile 2 Expressway, Lagos, Chief Alex Odunukwe, has dismissed recent reports on tension in the market.

He said illegal occupation of offices in BBA was the reason for what he described as leadership tussle in the market. He, however, expressed confidence that very soon, there would be a solution to the dispute.

Odunukwe, who made the remarks at a media chat in Lagos, described the recent judgment by the Lagos State High Court as victory for traders.

He presented the judgment delivered by Justice O. O. Ogunjobi of the Lagos State High Court on May 5, 2022, in Suit No. LD/3517LM/2021, in the case between the incorporated Trustees of Balogun Business Association vs. Persons unknown, which held that the Corporate Affairs Commission was vested with powers to regulate the affairs and activities of all corporate entities registered under it, and that the Registrar General of Corporate Affairs Commission, in pursuant to section 41(7) of the Corporate Affairs Commission Act 2020, acted within its statutory powers when it withdrew, cancelled, and revoked the certificate of registration being paraded by the persons unknown on July 3, 2018, and that until the decision of the Registrar General of Corporate Affairs Commission is set aside by a court of competent jurisdiction, that certificate of registration in possession of persons unknown remains cancelled, nullified and revoked.

He noted that the judge upheld the certificate of December 19, 2002, which recognised Chief Okey Ezibe as the Chairman, BBA, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos.
