- Provides free eye, tumor, fibroid surgeries

A former member representing Onitsha North and South at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Lynda Ikpeazu, has provided free medical outreach to the people of the area.
The medical services which was attracted by Hon Ikpeazu was being provided by the Doctor on the Move Africa in conjunction University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, (UNTH), Enugu will last for one week where doctors and other health workers are given health education, out patients consultation, medical laboratory test, scanning, dispensing of drugs, reading glasses and eye surgery, fibroid, tumour surgeries and other surgeries for various aliments.
The free medical services was going at Christ the King Parish, Oguta road Onitsha for outpatients and Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Onitsha for surgeries.
The team leader of the medical outreach Dr. Joseph Kidu said that the team was ready to attend to any patient and refer those that their condition could not be handle here due to equipment to Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Onitsha.
“We are doing a comprehensive medical outreach this involves health education, out patients consultation, medical laboratory test, scanning, dispensing of drugs, reading glasses, eye surgery, tumour, fibroid surgeries etc.
“We do referrals for the cases we can’t handle here to Federal Medical Centre hospital, Onitsha. So, we can’t do all the cases here because we don’t have all the equipment here especially major surgeries.
“We are using the FMC Onitsha for the surgeries and their eye theater and general theaters for the surgeries and admission. We can manage many patients every day because we have several consulting points. We have been doing this for the 17 years across 22 states in Nigeria” he stated.
Ikpeazu was represented by her aide Mr. Ikechukwu Motune said that she has been providing the free medical services when she was at the National Assembly and continue the gesture as ordinary member of the society due to her love and compassion for her people of Onitsha.
He said that her motivation to embark on the free medical treatment for her Onitsha resudents was due to economic hardship that led to health challenges.Health is number one and you have to be healthy to do anything else.
“We also know that medical bills not only in Nigeria is very high. And with the economic situation in the country, a lot of people cannot afford quality health care and based on that I said she decided provide free medical services to her people.
“I know that the exercise will last for one week and will help the people to address their health challenges and they don’t have to pay for it because Madam is footing the bills. Those that need to be performed surgery on them will go to FMC Onitsha for that free of charge.
Some of the patients Mrs. Agartha Osi, Mr. John Nnadi, Nkeiru Oniche, Mrs. Ifesinachi Anaeto and Okey Odinaka commended Hon Ikpeazu for her love and kind gesture, saying that she has been providing empowerment and skill acquisition training for the people.
They however prayed God for her to excel in all her endeavours, live long life to enjoy her fruits of her work on earth.
“We want her back to the National Assembly to provide more dividends of democracy and attract more projects and empowerments for us. We are proud of her and she put smiles on our faces,” Mrs Osi stated.
